42 ft Nova Scotia schooner for sale

I have a 47 overall gaff rigged schooner that is 90% restored. I think it needs a new owner. I turns out that I am never going to get to take a summer off in the forseeable future, and it is too big for day sailing.

The schooner was built in Nova Scotia in the 60,s and purchased by an old friend in Halifax in the early 80's. It was sailed on the great lakes, then Florida and the Bahamas. The hull was glassed by Allan Vaites in Matapoisette before going to Florida. The glass is 1/4 inch thick above the waterline and 5/16 below.

She has a full length iron keel, a 42 HP volvo diesel, alcohol stove, one set of sails and a new interior, mast and booms.
I have all the surveys. It can be viewed in Eliot ME.

Looks like a few out there

Looks like a few out there who are interested which is great news. It is always good to see others interested in acquiring a schooner of this type.
I'm a bit surprised at the price. Maybe it is just me.
To the lucky new owner, should he be on this forum.. good luck. Maybe if you are on the east coast. the two umm.. NS schooners can schoon/race together...

HOME BUILT DESIGN 270 AVAILABLE

I'M CURRENTLY CONSIDERING ACQUIRING THE ABOVE SCHOONER, BUT I HAVE NO KNOWLEDGE OF THE SAILING CHARACTERISTICS OF A SCHOONER RIG. I'M FAIRLY CERTAIN THAT IT HAS A BALD HEAD RIG, AND DRAWS 6 FEET. THIS PARTICULAR YACHT HAS A DISPLACEMENT OF 17 TONS, IS FIBERGLASS OVER COLD MOLDED MAHOGANY. ANY GENERAL COMMENTS APPRECIATED.

Please send pictures & confirm the price

Dear Jim, Your Schooner Sounds like an interesting option - please can you confirm the price and the location and send info and pictures - many thanks - Alan

270 -Alden I assume

Not sure I followed the whole thread. Excuse me If I'm off the mark. No offense meant. I sailed only twice on a cold molded Alden 309. Lighter than our original plank on frame 309 and difference was strongly reflected in boat's "active" motion even in relatively light air. Cold molded much lighter and was not ballasted to same waterline.

If boat seems light on waterline, may want to discuss adding interior ballast with an appropriate naval architect if necessary.

Schooner Concord from Glocester MA?

I am an inhapitant of Iceland. In the late 1900 my grate-grandfather John Baptiste Duguo sailed his schooner, Concord, from Glocester to Iceland several times to cats halibut. Im trying to get some informations regarding the schooner, where it vas built and so on. Does anyone have any informations.

Bluenose

Bluenose was a canadian schooner from nova scotia, a celebrated racing ship and a symbol of the province. The name bluenose originated as a nick name for nova scotians.
